Katherine Halbleib
Katherine Halbleib, Coach

Halbleib is the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports at UofL.  She is the main liaison for Special Olympics Kentucky and helps organize all Unified programming on campus. Halbleib graduated from the University of Louisville with a BS in Sport Administration in 2017 and then completed a Master of Business Administration degree in 2019. During her time as an undergraduate she worked for the Intramural Department as an official and an Intramural Supervisor. While pursuing her master’s degree, she was able to stay with the Intramural Department as a Sports Program Assistant. In addition to her duties with UofL, she is also a KHSAA basketball official. In her spare time, she enjoys staying active, searching the Louisville scene for new restaurants and playing fetch with her dog.  While a student, Halbleib participated in Unified basketball and attended the 2019 NIRSA National Basketball Championships.

Justin Peterson
Justin Peterson, Coach

Peterson is the Associate Director of Facility Operations in the UofL Intramural Department.  He earned a BS in History and Social Sciences from Central Michigan University and an MS in Recreation and Sport Management from Indiana State University. While at Central Michigan he served as an official and supervisor in the Intramural Sports program. He was a graduate assistant in the Department of Recreational Sports while at Indiana State. Peterson is also a KHSAA basketball official. He served as the Kentucky Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (KIRSA) state director from 2016 to 2018. Justin has developed a strong relationship with Special Olympics Kentucky and started the Unified Sports program on campus. Peterson is an avid sports fan and in his free time he loves spending time with his wife and son.

Nick Coslow
Nick Coslow

Coslow, 24, of Louisville is a 2016 graduate of Male High School where he competed in Unified basketball and ran cross country for 3 years. After graduation, he went to the Ahrens Work Transition Program, where he learned to work independently and ride TARC. Coslow has been involved in Special Olympics since 2013, competing in basketball, bowling, flag football, softball and track and field in addition to Unified sports. He has worked at Kentucky Kingdom and Griff’s Restaurant in the past and currently works at Cabela’s. Coslow has also volunteered at Kosair Children’s Hospital and the Louisville Zoo.

Michelle Goderwis
Michelle Goderwis, Unified Partner

Goderwis, 20, is from Newport, Ky., and is a sophomore at the University of Louisville majoring in economics and sustainability. She is a graduate of Bishop Brossart High School in Alexandria, where she ran track for four years for the Mustangs. Goderwis has been active in Unified Sports at Louisville since arriving on campus, participating in Unified basketball, bocce and human foosball. She also enjoys soccer and volleyball. She plans to attend law school and hopes to practice environmental law.

Hunter Kasse
Hunter Kasse

Kasse, 22, of Louisville is a graduate of New Albany High School, in New Albany, Ind. He has been involved in Special Olympics for eight years, competing in basketball, bowling, golf, softball and track and field. He works as a package handler at UPS and has been there for 2 years.

Tim Kornrumpf
Tim Kornrumpf

Kornrumpf, 31, of Louisville is the only member of the Unified team with previous USA Games experience. He competed in track and field at the 2010 Games in Lincoln, Neb., winning a gold medal in the 4×100 relay and a bronze in the 100-meter dash. Kornrumpf followed that in 2014 in New Jersey, competing as part of the Team Kentucky flag football team that claimed a bronze medal. A Special Olympics athlete for 19 years, he has competed in basketball, bowling, cheerleading, flag football, softball, swimming and track and field. His favorite sport is softball. Kornrumpf works at UPS.

Trent Martinez
Trent Martinez

Martinez, 24, of Louisville has been a Special Olympics athlete for nine years competing in basketball, flag football, soccer and softball. His favorite sport is basketball and he is a fan of the Miami Heat.  He is also a big University of Louisville fan. Martinez has worked at UPS unloading trucks for four years.

Garrett Nason
Garrett Nason

Nason, 20, of Louisville is a graduate of Jeffersontown High School. He has been a Special Olympics athlete for nine years, competing in basketball, bowling, flag football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and track and field. Nason’s sister, Kalina, also participates in the program. Nason works at UPS unloading package containers. In his spare time, he enjoys driving his classic Mustang.

Eric Piernas, Jr.
Eric Piernas, Jr., Unified Partner

Piernas, 24, is from Rineyville, Ky., and graduated from John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown. He played four years of football and ran track for three years for the Bulldogs. Piernas has been instrumental in the growth of the Unified Sports program at the University of Louisville. He has participated in Unified basketball for several years and has competed at two NIRSA National Unified Basketball Championships. A graduate student at U of L, Piernas is working toward his master’s degree in sports administration. He has worked in the Intramural Sports Department at U of L for five years.

Cory Pitsenberger
Cory Pitsenberger

Pitsenberger, 23, of Louisville is a graduate of Eastern High School where he participated on the Unified Basketball and Track teams. He was also a team manager for the varsity basketball team. He has been involved in Special Olympics for 12 years competing in basketball, flag football, soccer and softball. His favorite sports are basketball and softball.  Pitsenberger was a member of the Unified basketball teams who represented the University of Louisville in the 2018 & 2019 NIRSA National Basketball Championships. He works at the Nike Outlet Store

Kevin Sullivan
Kevin Sullivan, Unified Partner

Sullivan, 22, is a Louisville native. The University of Louisville senior is a graduate of DeSales High School where he played both basketball and volleyball. He currently serves on the Colts basketball coaching staff. While at U of L he has participated in the Unified basketball program. Sullivan is a civil and environmental engineering major and has plans to become a water resource engineer.

Olivia Whitehead
Olivia Whitehead, Unified Partner

Whitehead, 20, is a sophomore at the University of Louisville. She is from Newport, Ky., where she graduated from Newport Central Catholic High School. Whitehead played four years of varsity soccer for the Thoroughbreds, serving as the team captain as a senior. While at UofL she has participated in Unified basketball, bocce and human foosball. She also enjoys snowboarding. Whitehead is majoring in Bioengineering and plans to become a Physician Assistant or work developing new prosthetics.
