Coach

Mary Fehrenbach Mary Fehrenbach has been selected to serve as the head coach for the Team Kentucky gymnastics delegation at the National Games. Fehrenbach will coach three athletes in Ames . Fehrenbach will be coaching in her third major Special Olympics competition as a Special Olympics Kentucky volunteer. She was also the head gymnastics coach for Team Kentucky at the 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill , N.C. , and as the head gymnastics coach for Team USA at the 2003 World Summer Games in Dublin , Ireland . In addition to her work with the Special Olympics gymnastics program, Fehrenbach is the head coach for the Kentucky Elite Show Cats Special Olympics cheerleading squad.

Athletes

 

Lee Dockins Lee Dockins of Russellville will compete in women’s artistic gymnastics. Dockins, 18, has been training in the gymnastics for 10 years and has been active in Special Olympics programs for seven years. In addition to gymnastics, Dockins competes in the Special Olympics bowling program.

 

 Phillip RIley

Phillip Riley of Frankfort will be the lone male athlete in the Team Kentucky gymnastics contingent at the Games. Riley, 25, will be competing in men’s artistic gymnastics. He earned his spot on the National Games team with a gold-medal performance at the 2005 Special Olympics Kentucky State Summer Games, the first where he competed in gymnastics. While Riley has only been participating in the Special Olympics gymnastics program for two years, he has been involved in the program for 10, competing both as a swimmer and as an equestrian athlete. Riley competed in the 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Dublin , Ireland , in equestrian, winning a silver medal in the equestrian competition there. He also competed for several years with the Jessamine Sharks swim team. In addition to his gymnastics training, Riley is also a member of the Kentucky Elite Show Cats Special Olympics cheerleading squad. In addition, Riley was recently selected to serve as the athlete representative on the Special Olympics Kentucky Board of Directors.

 Brittany Snider

Brittany Snider of Calvert City will be competing in artistic gymnastics at the National Games. A student at Marshall County High School , Snider, 16, has competed in Special Olympics for four years and has participated in gymnastics programs for six years. She earned her spot on the National Games team with a gold medal in her division of the all-around competition at the 2005 Special Olympics Kentucky State Summer Games in Richmond this past June. In addition to gymnastics, Snider also competes in Special Olympics track and field at the local level. This will be her first major Special Olympics competition.
