State Equestrian Competition

One of the State’s Most Unique Events Finds New Home

State Equestrian Competition

The State Equestrian Competition is one of the most unique events on the SOKY calendar.

The State Equestrian Competition is on the move in 2019. For the first time ever, the event will be held at Lakeside Arena in Frankfort. It also moves to a new date MUCH earlier in the calendar. Nearly 50 Special Olympics Kentucky equestrian athletes will take part in the event on Sunday, August 18.

The Competition gives riders from therapeutic and private riding organizations throughout the state an opportunity to come together and display their skills.

Athletes will once again compete in multiple disciplines, including English and Western Equitation, Dressage, Showmanship and Working Trails.

Activities get underway at 8:45 with Opening Ceremonies followed by the first competition class at 9 am. The public is welcome to attend and admission to the competition is free.
