IMPORTANT SUMMER GAMES WEATHER & TRAFFIC INFORMATION

Special Olympics Kentucky State Summer Games<br />
30 Years at EKU

We are very excited about this weekend’s State Summer Games and celebrating the 30th year of the Games being held in Richmond at Eastern Kentucky University. We are aware of the threat of bad weather for this weekend. We have a plan to move the Opening Ceremonies to Alumni Coliseum on Friday night if needed. If we aren’t able to hold competitions on Friday night, we will amend Saturday’s schedule to ensure that we can complete all competitions. We will make a decision about Friday competition by 4pm Friday.

Also, construction on the EKU will cause a traffic impact getting to North and South Halls. Both halls can only be through the Telford Hall parking lot. The route includes Lancaster Ave., Crabbe St., University Dr. Kit Carson Dr. and Madison Dr. Look for Special Olympics directional signs.

In the event of lighting or thunder, announcements will be made to clear the competition areas. Everyone may shelter in place in Alumni Coliseum or in the Powell Building. You may also go to your personal vehicle. Competition will be suspended until 30 minutes after the last sign of lighting or thunder.
