The 2022 State Artistic Gymnastics Competition will be held Sunday, November 13, at Legacy All-Sports in Lexington. Athlete march in and opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 am with competition beginning at 9:45. Legacy Gymnastics has hosted the Artistic Gymnastics Competition since it left the State Summer Games and became a stand-alone event.
Nearly 25 gymnasts will compete at the event which will include floor exercise, balance beam, uneven bars and vault events for women and floor exercise, rings, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar events for the men.
Kentucky offers one of the nation’s best Special Olympics gymnastics programs and Kentucky gymnasts have enjoyed tremendous success at both the USA and World Games. Among the athletes competing at this year’s state vent will be Racheal Connor of Versailles, Russellville’s Lee Dockins and Aliya White of Lexington, all of whom competed at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. Dockins will compete as part of the Special Olympics USA team at next year’s Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, Germany.
