2024 Winter Sports Season Hits High Gear

A River City Rumble player goes for a shot at the 2023 State Basketball TournamentJanuary Means Winter Games and Basketball Leagues Opening

Now that the calendar has turned, the Winter Sports Season is ready to rev its engines! In January we’ll hold our State Winter Games, basketball leagues will open in Louisville and Georgetown and invitational tournament will be held around the state. Cheerleading squads are practicing now in preparation for the State Cheerleading Competition in February.

Winter Games

Our State Winter Games returns for its 27th year at Perfect North Slopes and the 44th overall Jan. 21-23. Nearly 100 athletes will once again compete in snowshoeing and alpine skiing. The skiing competition includes levels ranging from developmental (short glides without turns) to advanced plus, making the sport accessible to anyone interested in competing. Ski partners will again be on hand to teach athletes to ski or to help improve their skills.

Leagues open  January 9 & 10 in Louisville and January 11 in Georgetown. Teams are holding games in other areas and there are a handful of invitational tournaments this month leading up to regional Tournaments in February. Everything leads up to the State Tournament at MidAmerica Sports Complex in Louisville March 9-10.
