Volunteer Opportunities Abound in New Year

There Are Great Ways for Anyone to Get Involved in Special Olympics

Whether you’re an avid skier, a certified referee or have never been to a sporting event in your life, there are ways for you to support our athletes as a volunteer. You can also sign up to volunteer at any of our five Polar Plunges that take place from late January through mid-March.

Here’s a list of what we have coming up:
Jan. 9-Feb. 25 — Basketball Leagues; Louisville & Georgetown – Scorekeepers, Scoreboard Operators, PA Announcers, Referees
Jan. 21-23 – State Winter Games; Perfect North Slopes; Lawrenceburg Ind. – Ski Partners, Timers, Course Officials
Jan. 27 – Greater Cincinnati Polar Plunge; The Banks; Cincinnati, Ohio – Registration, Fundraising Prize Pickup, Pool Support
Feb. 3 – Region 1 Basketball Tournament; Bowling Green Parks and Recreation; Bowling Green – Scorekeepers, Scoreboard Operators, PA Announcers, Referees
Feb. 3-4 – Region 3 Basketball Tournament; Bluegrass SportsPlex; Elizabethtown – Scorekeepers, Scoreboard Operators, PA Announcers, Referees
Feb. 17 – Region 2 Basketball Tournament; All About Sports; Florence – Scorekeepers, Scoreboard Operators, PA Announcers, Referees
Feb. 17 – Lexington Polar Plunge; Texas Roadhouse-Beaumont Centre – Registration, Fundraising Prize Pickup, Pool Support
Feb. 24 – Louisville Polar Plunge; Main Event – Registration, Fundraising Prize Pickup, Pool Support
March 2 – Western Kentucky Polar Plunge & Polar 5k; Kentucky Dam Village; Gilbertsville – Registration, Fundraising Prize Pickup, Pool Support, 5k Support
March 9-10
– State Basketball Tournament; MidAmerica Sports Complex – Scorekeepers, Scoreboard Operators, PA Announcers, Referees
March 9 – Lake Cumberland Polar Plunge; Lee’s Ford Marina; Nancy – Registration, Fundraising Prize Pickup, Pool Support
