Bowling Green will host their run on Tuesday, June 3, where the run will start at Kentucky State Police Post 3 on Nashville Road at 9 am.
Finally, the Flame of Hope will be carried through Kenton County on Thursday, June 5. That run will begin at 10 am at the Kenton County Police Department at 11777 Madison Ave. in Independence and finish at Simon Kenton High School.
The “Flame of Hope” will make its final journey to the Summer Games on Friday, June 6. That day begins at 9 am with a ceremony and torch lighting at the Frankfort Police Department. Law Enforcement officers from around the state will then carry the torch down in a brief run through Frankfort. Officers will then bus to Nicholasville to run a leg that begins at the Nicholasville Police Department at 11 am. Two legs in Lexington follow Nicholasville. The first begins at 1:30 at the Old Morrison Building on the Transylvania University campus and will run to the Fayette County Courthouse. There will be a ceremony at the Courthouse before the torch continues to the Wildcat Statue on the University of Kentucky campus.
The “Flame of Hope” will arrive in Richmond for a leg that will start at the Richmond Police Department at 3:30 pm. Runners will take the torch from there into the Eastern Kentucky University campus. That run will include a short parade including Special Olympics athletes from First Christian Church on Main Street to the EKU campus.
Finally, officers will present the torch with the help of a Special Olympics athlete for the cauldron lighting at the Summer Games Opening Ceremonies, which start at 6 pm in The Ravine.
