FLW Foundation to Host Second Unified Fishing Derby in Kentucky April 8
Pro Angler Cody Kelly Return to Host Event at Ruckels Pay Lake
For the second year in a row, FLW Foundation professional angler Cody Kelley will host a Unified Fishing Derby in Kentucky. This year’s event will be at Ruckles Pay Lake in Eubank, Ky., in conjunction with the upcoming Fishing League Worldwide Derby at Lake Cumberland.
The Unified Derby will be held from 9-11 am on Saturday, April 8. It is open to young anglers (under 18) and Special Olympics athletes of all ages. There will be event goodie bags for the first 50 registrants, awards for the top two biggest fish caught at the Unified Derby.
Participants are asked to bring their own rod and tackle if they have it (a limited number of FLW rods will be available), chairs, life jackets, sunscreen, etc., and their own snacks and drinks. Cameras are encouraged. An adult or legal guardian will must accompany all participants and sign a waiver.
Participants are also invited to attend the FLW Expo following the Unified Derby. The Expo will be held at General Burnside Island State Park from noon to 4 pm. The Expo includes activities like Meet the Pros, a casting pool, product demonstrations and the professional derby live weigh in at 5 pm.
Last year, Kelley participated in an FLW Foundation-sponsored Unified Fishing Derby that the organization held when their tour stopped at Kentucky Lake.
