New Flag Football Event Set for Oct. 11

Run, Pass and Catch Event to be Held at St. Xavier High School

Flag Football
Passing is one of three skills that will be tested at the new flag football event.

Flag Football teams in Kentucky got the green light to start practicing according to SOKY safety guidelines on Sept. 1, and while social distancing won’t allow us to hold a State Flag Football Tournament this year, those athletes will have a chance to show off their skills at the SOKY Run, Pass and Catch competition. The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11 at St .Xavier High School in Louisville.

Structured after the once ubiquitous NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition, Run, Pass and Catch will test athlete’s abilities in three basic flag football skills. The run will be a timed 40-yard dash. The passing event will score athletes on both distance and accuracy. In the Catching event, athletes will have three tries to run a simple pass route and make a catch on a ball thrown by their coach.

Even though it’s not possible to hold a regular flag football season this year, we are excited to be able to give our athletes this opportunity to show off their skills.
