Don’t Miss Your Chance to Compete in Our Summer Sports Season

Summer sports is one of our smaller seasons with only two sports – softball and golf, but both sports are growing rapidly. Now is the time to start making plans to participate.

Softball

Our Louisville softball league will start July 7. Teams outside Louisville often play scrimmages or tournaments in their own regions. There are also invitational tournaments held by local programs throughout the summer. The season leads up to three regional tournaments from which teams qualify for the State Softball Tournament which will be held in September.

Golf

Golfers compete at three levels – skills, Unified alternate shot and individual stroke play. Skills is for new golfers and golfers who aren’t yet ready to take to the course. It tests a golfer’s abilities in six standard golf shots and is a fantastic introduction to the sport. Unified alternate shot is for more advanced golfers and pairs a Special Olympics athlete with a Unified partner, and the pair take turns hitting shots until the ball is holed. Individual stroke play is for the most advanced golfers and involves the Special Olympics golfer playing their own ball for the entire round.
