SOKY Offers Fit Friday At-Home Workouts
SOKY Pairing with Ohio Valley Wrestling, Norton Sports Performance to Keep Athletes Healthy at Home
With all sports activities currently on hold and in order to support Governor Andy Beshear’s #HealthyAtHome directive, Special Olympics Kentucky is offering Fit Friday at-home workouts every Friday at 10:30 am EDT/9:30 CDT. The workouts are a partnership between SOKY, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Norton Sports Performance, and are organized by OVW and Norton Sports Performance owner Chad Miller. They have been led by Miller as well as by Norton Sports Performance coach Eric Hammer and former Louisville Football and Buffalo Bills player Eric Wood.
The workouts are broadcast on Facebook Live on the SOKY Facebook page. They are designed to be able to be done in a relatively small space and by athletes and friends of any fitness level. The program is planned to run for eight weeks through May 8. You can also find previous workouts on our Facebook videos tab.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to partner with Chad, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Norton Sports Performance on this,” said Special Olympics Kentucky President and CEO Trish Mazzoni. “We know how important sports are to our athletes. For some, it may be their only physical activity each week. So we knew that we had to do something to give them ways to stay active and healthy in a way that was safe for them and for our presenters given the circumstances we are currently in. We were fortunate to have Chad step up in this way and to do it with so much energy and enthusiasm.”
The workouts are public and we welcome athletes, family and friends to join in wherever you are.
